THE Road Transport Department (RTD) has launched Op Hari Raya Aidiladha, which will run until Wednesday, as people return to their hometowns for the holiday, according to deputy director-general (planning and operations) Aedy Fadly Ramli.
He said the operation was focused more on express bus drivers and enforcement of nine major offences including speeding, not using seat belts and overloading of hazardous materials.
“Express bus drivers will be monitored at 28 main bus terminals nationwide by officers disguised as passengers and we will also be deployed along the highway,” he told a press conference at Sungai Besi Toll Plaza last night.
Aedy said during the operation, RTD would also be on the lookout to seize vehicles driven by individuals driving without a licence or whose licence had expired.

“Vehicles with expired road tax will also be seized in this op,” he said.
Meanwhile, Aedy called on the public to report on traffic offences through the JPJ [email protected] application, which was launched in April.
Aedy said as of 10pm, a total of 330 summonses had already been issued for various traffic offences, while five motorcycles and four cars were seized for either expired road tax or expired licence.
“Two men in their 30s were also arrested after they tested positive for drugs,” he said. – Bernama, July 7, 2022.
